Overview

Turin (also known as Torino to Italians) is a vibrant and beautiful city in the region of Piedmont.  One of northern Italy's most  affluent cities, Turin is a university city home to wonderful markets, fine food, fantastic museums, art galleries and a excellent shopping.

Our group of expert travel planners offers food, wine and cultural tours here and all over the Piedmont and northern Italy region.  We strongly recommend a visit to this city, which is often a favorite among travelers to the region since it is quite literally a treasure trove of fine dining experiences, great markets and a generally wonderful vibe for visitors who choose to venture this fare north in Italy.

The city, like the region of Piedmont has a unique history and the culinary traditions here have been influenced by the French, Germans, Swiss and Spanish who all left their mark here both culturally and gastronomically.

The Cavour family, to date is considered one of Italy's most important families which you can read about in any number of historical texts and their mark on Italy as we know it today where the majority of towns and cities in Italy have at least one major street name or important building with the name 'Cavour' and you can read a little bit about them here:

'Camillo Paolo Filippo Giulio Benso, Count of CavourIsolabella and Leri (10 August 1810 – 6 June 1861), generally known as Cavour (Italian: [kaˈvur]), was an Italian statesman and a leading figure in the movement toward Italian unification.[4] He was one of the leaders of the Historical Right, and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Piedmont-Sardinia, a position he maintained (except for a six-month resignation) throughout the Second Italian War of Independence and Garibaldi's campaigns to unite Italy. After the declaration of a united Kingdom of Italy, Cavour took office as the first Prime Minister of Italy; he died after only three months in office, and thus did not live to see Venetia or Rome added to the new Italian nation.'   Read more about Cavour family
