Overview
This tour of Tivoli and Hadrian's villa is a great options for those who have already experienced Rome and want to visit one of Italy's most fantastic gardens and the pleasures of the Lazio region which in its own right is a remarkable territory and region to explore.
Our driver on this tour will meet you at your cruise ship to begin our journey along the Ancient Appian Way passing the catacombs and vineyards, winding our way up to the hill-top town of Tivoli which offers incredible views of the Lazio region in all directions.
Once at Tivoli, you will have the opportunity to visit Hadrian's Villa, which was one of the largest and most luxurious palaces of the Roman Empire. The Emperor Hadrian himself ordered and supervised the building of his villa.
From here, we will proceed to Villa d'Este that boasts one of the finest Baroque gardens in all Italy with incredible waterworks and hundreds of gurgling fountains that are the primary attractions of this stupendous summer villa, which was built in 1550 for Cardinal Ippolito D'Este, son of the infamous Lucrezia Borgia.
A magical villa where five hundred fountains keep tons of flowing water running continuously. The courtyard which now corresponds to the present entrance of the villa was the cloister of a Benedictine convent that was incorporated in the monumental building of the villa.
After a beautiful day in the Roman countryside, we will head back to Civitavecchia where we guarantee you safe arrival in time for your ship's departure.

Hotels
1. Hotel Sovestro in San Gimignano was wonderful. The staff were very friendly and helpful and made the first portion of our journey very stress free. They made us feel like we were part of their family. I would recommend it to anyone and would specifically ask for it if we were to make a return visit.
2. Hotel La Baia in Monterosso was nice and it's location was very good especially for us older folks humping luggage from/to the train station.
3. Hotel Lucchesi in Florence- what can I say expect FANTASTIC. The rooftop view at sunset is well worth it. Again very friendly and helpful staff. Would recommend it to everyone.
Wine Tour
Money well spent. We had a great time overall. The driver Mario was OUTSTANDING. He had lots of local knowledge as well as about winemaking. USE HIM AGAIN!!!
The various wineries we visited on tour:
Altesino- fantastic and they were not cheap on their pouring. Great experience.
Azienda Agricola Patrizia Cencion Sloaria- Again a great tour by one of the owner's daughters. We felt like we were the only thing on their mind although there were other customers there. A great way to complete the day.
Again we had a fantastic time and are very appreciative of everything you booked for us. We wish you continued success and if our travels should bring us back to Italy, we know who to call.
